Tro Tro Afosu
This series of paintings was completed during and after a three year period that involved two trips to a small village called Afosu in the Eastern Region of Ghana, between 2006 and 2009. The area is known for, among other things, Ju Ju witchcraft, one of the oldest forms of voodoo, and an illegal and dangerous method of gold and diamond mining called Galamsey.
With these Images my aim was to create a sense of this environment of fortune and misfortune, and the danger and superstition that surrounds it.
